Artists that use Photoshop
I found this site with a number of featured artists that primarily use photoshop to create their work.
http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/exotique/featured_artists/
We needed to find 3 artists that interest us and after looking at the work on this site I really enjoy the work done by JASON CHAN, PASCAL BLANCHÉ, and LINDA BERGKVIST. Here are the links to their personal sites.

Comments on the "Creativity Strangled" video
Aside from fixing up an old photograph in photoshop, our homework for this week was to post our thoughts on the "Creativity Strangled" video.
The quote "For the love, not for the money" caught my attention. This makes me think about graphic design as an art form today. I almost feel like many artists are taking up graphic design because of the fact that you'll have a better chance of getting a solid job in today's world through that medium and what not. Considering we're starting to choose classes for next semester, I've been thinking about what classes I want to take but also about what I want to major in, which at the moment I have no idea. Since I've been thinking about a major I've also been thinking about my plans after college, which I had none... I asked around to try and see what kinds of jobs I can get after school with the different majors and what I found it is that you're pretty much not guaranteed any kind of steady job in any art form other than Graphic Design... I guess that was part of the challenge in entering art as a career... many people told me this but I really didn't want to believe it. ... However artists ARE needed everywhere for pretty much everything. But everyone need graphic designers. And this is where the quote comes in... Though some artists truly feel strongly about this way of making art I almost feel like a lot of artists are also using it just to Make the money... and its no longer about the Love for art. ... Computer art is growing on me but personally there is no way I could work with a computer all the time, my brain may explode. I almost feel like artists are abandoning the traditional ways of making art, that actual physical connection with a piece of art. Like what the man in the video was talking about in the beginning of the video about the telephone and how humans will evolve and loose their vocal choirs because of it... I feel that artists are loosing that real artistic touch, their creativity, to this relatively new way of creating "art"...
"Artist choice open for business" i guess... ???
...Annnnyway back to more of what the video was about. Copyright laws and what not... I've never really understood what can and can not be used in art. The videos that where shown (Jesus Christ the Musical, a personal fav that I had seen many a-time before, ha) were more like fun youtube videos rather than art... even thought I know that's what they were...
In the video the man said something about images and sounds are not free for commercial use, but amateur use is okay. I think that makes sense... and I don't really see how that could every change anyway. What with the internet there's no way to silence all the individuals that make videos for the web... but once something is on the internet its open to everyone... but then that brings up the argument about if a company takes a video or something off the internet. the person who made the video will bitch about it being stolen for commercial use, but then the company could argue that what they took, if its a video like the Anime video where material used to make the video was not the creators in the first place which was Taken from the media, then the company is just doing the same thing in a way, i guess... I dont know. It's all really confusing... and hard to explain what I'm trying to say, blah.
"We live life against the law" I suppose.

Self Portrait
As of right now, I cannot upload my self portrait constructed out of text. But once I can, I will.
After seeing what others in the class did, I'm not all that happy with mine anymore. If I had more time to give to working on computer art I would redo it. Alas, I do not have the time... nor do I have anymore of my soul still intact to work with a computer for any longer than I already have.
Don't get me wrong! I'm still trying my best, and trying to produce good, solid work. I'm just not all that crazy with such an impersonal method of creating "art" ... or tracing pretty pictures...

WARNING
Another part of our first assignment was to create two 'warning signs' about ourselfs... these are mine... putting text in my art doesnt work on my laptop so it doesnt have it here... but the Hannibal one said "Hannibal Lector and I are tight." teehee... I forget what the one with the different hair said and... no comment on the last one... heehee.
Clowns and a Pirate
Our first assignment was to create a pictogram of a profession we would have taken up if being an artist was not an option... I would have been a clown, I suppose... some sort of street performer. I sent a lot of time on these, experimenting with the spaces and colors.
I also made a pirate because I always told my friends I wanted to be a pirate when I grew up. Raping and pillaging is still on my agenda for the future.

This semester (my 2nd semester at Tyler School of Art) I'm take a Computer class and we're required to keep and maintain a blog about artists, our own art, and other artistic experiences.
The first day of class we answered some questions about ourselves which I will now post... right now.
1.Who am I?
My name is Tina Yanni and I’m horrible with computers. My older brother, on the other hand, has always been amazing with computers and has tried to teach me how to work with them but has failed miserably. I am interested in learning about how I can use the computer to create art, I think that will be a lot of fun to learn.
I’m really into horror movies and gore. I often try and express this interest through my artwork. I feel that shock value in a piece is much more memorable for the viewer than just a pretty picture. I would rather have people talking about how disturbed they were from my work than how nicely I can draw.
2.Where did I come from?
I live in East Petersburg, Pa, which is about 25 minutes outside of Lancaster city. When people find out I live in Lancaster they always ask me if I’m Amish, which I am not.
3.How did I get here?
My elementary school art teacher was a big influence on me. I’ve always thought he was the coolest guy. Luckily, during my senior year of high school he became the head of the art department and taught my AP art class. I learned a lot from him.
My mom and grandmother always encouraged me to create art, as well. I got my first set of pastels from the grandmother and I’ll never forget how proud she was of me for drawing a prettier flower than my brother.
Last summer I attended The Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts in Erie, PA. That experience really locked in the fact that I want to be an artist.
4 & 5. Two things that have happened in the last year.
I graduated from high school and started college, two obvious statements but two very important stages in my life.
6.Where am I going?
Honestly, I don’t know. I know I want to do something with art as a career. What that is exactly, I don’t know, but I have four years to figure it out.
